Frequently Asked Questions

Waxing

How often should I get waxed or sugared?

It entirely depends on where you are in your hair removal journey! When you first start, we recommend booking every 2 to 3 weeks for the first few months. This catches the hair in the correct growth stage and trains it to grow on the same cycle. Once your hair cycles sync up, you'll notice much smoother, longer-lasting results, allowing us to stretch your appointments out to every 4 to 6 weeks.

How long must my hair be?

For the best results, think small but mighty! For waxing, your hair should be at least as long as a grain of rice (about 1/4 inch). If you are sugaring, we can catch hair that is even shorter—just about half a grain of rice (1/8 inch). If you've been shaving, try to let it grow for about 2 to 3 weeks before your visit.

Do you recommend wax or sugar?

Both are fantastic, but they work a bit differently! Sugaring is incredibly gentle; the paste is applied against the hair growth and removed with it, making it ideal for sensitive skin and shorter hair. However, if your hair is a bit longer, waxing is actually quicker and less painful for that initial pull. Don't worry about choosing the wrong one—we can evaluate your hair texture and skin type during your visit to choose the perfect method for you.

Is hair removal painful?

We like to keep it real: we are removing hair from the root so that you will feel a quick sting! However, the anticipation is usually worse than the actual service, and it gets significantly easier and less painful with every consecutive visit as the hair grows back finer.

Pro-Tips to minimize the sting:

  • Time it right: Try to schedule your appointment 5–14 days after your menstrual cycle, when your body is least sensitive to pain.

  • Skip the caffeine: Avoid coffee or energy drinks the morning of your service (caffeine can tighten pores and stimulate nerve endings).

  • Prep your skin: Stay well-hydrated, get a great night's sleep, and gently exfoliate the area the day before.

  • Extra help: You can take an over-the-counter pain reliever like Tylenol 30–45 minutes prior, or ask us about a numbing spray!
